I gotta tell you this story...

Was at the Doctors today (damn flu!) and instead of my usual doctor I had another one. After the examination, this new doctor was checking my medical records and he noticed that in red it had "no blood" on the record cos I was a jw (told him i'm not one anymore).

We eventually got talking about this subject and this new doctor has contacts with doctors in the emergency section of the local hospital. Those doctors at the hospital there told him this story that about 2 years ago this car crash victim (as they found out later he was a ex-jw - DF'd) arrived by ambulance (he was in bad shape but not critical, he was losing blood and might need a transfusion) at the hospital and the ambo crew told the doctors that on the dashboard of the crashed car was a "no blood" card (doctors checked his wallet and found one there....he was DF'd and he still had the blood card(!)). The doctor called the 2 JW's listed on the blood card (both elders) to make sure that they were doing everything right. They called the first one and this elder said: "We can't help you cos that person is no longer a Jehovahs witness"....they called the second one - same story: "that person is disfellowshipped, we can't help you". To cut this story short....the guy didn't need a transfusion and he eventually got better and was released.

    Any comments?

What would you expect them to do? We all know that a DF'd person is as much as dead to them. Now, if he ever tried to get reinstated and it was found out that he had taken blood, I bet they would be pretty interested then.

I hope this guy knew of the elders response and saw how much better off he was by being shunned this time.

:::::::::::::What would you expect them to do?

What about awarding the guy some brownie points for good behavior whilst in a disfed state? After all there doesn't seem to be a fair system in play for disfed people (duh!) If you are well behaved and play it by the rules you get shunned. If you jump up and down and give em' heaps, you get shunned. Actually I've learned that they hate you just that bit more if you give trouble - - you sure aren't rewarded for going easy on them or keeping up a few WT doctrines.

The Moral of this Story, in my opinion, tear that blood card up ASAP. Don't wait, do it when you are first having doubts or at least don't carry it with you. Because if this guy needed blood and had no objection to it, he could have died while the doctors wasted time trying to figure out what to do.

The elders reaction in this situation was just so typical. NO LOVE. I mean if this df'd person was carrying his card because he was trying to "do right" which would possibly lead back into the borg, why wouldn't those elders have rushed to his side to see if they could help? They are just so hateful.

An old elder buddy used to tell me that the only encouragement that DF persons would receive is from the yearly visits by an elder.

    So much for encouragement.

Typical, if you're DFd they don't care if you live or die.

SYN: Well, no, actually...they'd prefer you dead. That way, you can't influence others in your family AT ALL.

MARILYN: I dunno, it always seemed they hated you more for still being a good person after leaving. Kinda showed up their whole 'leaving makes you bad and immoral' banner.

Now, the ones who leave and get pregnant/get someone pregnant, get a ton of tattoos, do drugs, lose their jobs, etc....

Now THOSE are the ones they like to keep bringing up...

they can try to act like their disfellowshipping is a loving arrangement from god, and they are god's organization,....yet their actions prove that their disfellowshipping persons, is not to bring members back to god.......... it's to seriouly mess up their lives........ cause they are no longer wanted, or loved.
