Is the Watchtower Like Ovaltine?

I just got back from days of business meetings in which
every aspect of the company's future is discussed - and
our reputation among the public analysed.

These days, even local businesses act this way.

Now, contrast this with the ham handed, amateurish PR
response of the Watchtower in response to its pedophile
problems - and they had plenty of time to prepare
AND they are an INTERNATIONAL corporation with all the
    responsibilities that entails!

I'm not shocked anymore to hear about a GB member
rambling through a written prayer for ten minutes or so.
I've seen businesses fail simply because everyone did
exactly THEIR assigned job - but no one 'took charge'
and directed the company with 'the big picture' in mind.

The Watchtower, with its collective inept leadership,
must find it acceptable to CUT expenses or existing
traditions BUT nearly impossible to develop any NEW
bold creative projects - with half senile old theocrats
    getting in the way.

I guess they won't be dumping the Service Meeting in
favor of a 'love feast' any time soon.

The Watchtower Society is looking more and more like
a senescent consumer brand - it's still on the shelf
but nobody invests much in promotion because there's
no payback (like Ovaltine , you mix in milk).

I can remember how upset my parents were years ago
when the Society asked U.S. Witnesses to let their
Watchtower subscriptions lapse for a while , so they
could catch up with work at Brooklyn. I think they
would be very sad to see a 120 year tradition be
canceled to save a few bucks - or get people to
attend meetings to pick up their magazines.

It will be interesting to see if Joe Average Witness
ever achieves sudden illumination that the religion
he's invested his whole life in is downsizing itself
    into history.

Interesting comments as usual. So do you

think the Watchtower will ever change and be creative? Or do you think that the masses will continue to stay hypnotized?

Why don't they call it Roundtine?

How about "Sloppy 'Joe'" mix? I wonder how the total numbers of JW's stack up to last years count -- I know here in Canada they've been a slightly dwindling (more DF'd that newly baptized) 110,000 for the last 6-7 years. Watch as the WTS crap brand of PR for whatever temporary speculations or new 'lights' (name your favorite, mine is the joining and being booted from the NGO's) sends their numbers spiralling down the figurative toilet, eventually becoming a forgotten dash.

Maximus once predicted a meeting of Bethel overseers that would candidly

tell the organization about the great need for change. That never happened - yet

    the changes come anyway.

I really don't know where this limbo dance ends - do Witnesses ever wake up

is a question only the future can answer.

Not that this is brilliant or insightful, but I think as long as Jaracz is the de facto leader of the org, no creativity or meaningful change will come about.

more like grape nuts. or hamburger helper. ugh. i have seen that stuff in supermarkets for years and have never bought either one... same with ovalitine, for that matter. and powdered milk. oog.but something i did buy just last week that i never have bought before. something i have also passed by for years, and that is those jesus candles over in the salsa aisle. i have recently become interested in mexican retablos and milagros, because i am embarking on a creative endeavor along those lines. so those jesus candles caught my eye. they're actuallypretty cool-looking when you light one up.
