There was quite a well known quote at the WT.org site, I thought it was in the 'Questions often asked by interested people' section but I just can't find it.

The question was something like; 'Do you practice shunning?'
The first word of the WT answer was; No.

If anyone could point me to it I'd be grateful, ta!

    Nic,

I cannot find that quote either. It seems like they had a "Frequently Asked Questions" section before, which now has been deleted.

Maybe they got some "new light".

Maybe it was too embarrassing for them ...

If it has disappeared from their site I think I saved a copy of it somewhere (have to have a dig around for it).

Also, this is useful to see how things were:

    WaybackMachine - WatchTower.org

They can re-write their doctrine and their books & CDs but they can't cheat on the Internet !

This is the page you want:

    Do you shun former members?

Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned. In compliance with the Scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions. Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties. Disfellowshipped members may continue to attend religious services, and if they wish, they may receive pastoral visits. They are always welcome to return to the faith.1 Corinthians 5:11-13.

    Ha! Liars

Interesting too how they try to equate being a former member with "stealing, drunkenness, or adultery"

IF.... they DO NOTHING THAT DESERVES DISFELLOWSHIPING AFTER THEY LEAVE! (unless the brothers come by and ask you WHY you are not attendind and you tell them you don't agree watchtower style......then you WILL be. You must lie to them or be disfellowshiped! Nice choices eh?)

Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties.

IF....you live in the home, or are married to the df'ed one, or if you have neccesary buisness to handle.

WTBTS........famous for half truths and outright lies!
