Don't know if this article was posted here recently. But be mindful, if you're an elder, it could be dangerous to disfellowship someone.

A DISGRUNTLED Jehovah’s Witness is being sued, by the family he poisoned, for $100,000 because his malicious, spiteful crime has left them feeling anguished and afraid.

The Advertiser can reveal Karen and Ben Anthonysz have filed civil action against Brett Darren Mardon, who was last month convicted of lacing their food and drink with weed killer.

In court documents, Mrs Anthonysz, 43, says her youngest child still asks his food be checked, while her bakery suffered because she could not ensure the purity of its ingredients.

She fears Mardon’s choice of toxin, glysophate, may cause the family hormonal disruption and “DNA damage”, or leave them susceptible to Parkinson’s disease and cancer.

Mrs Athonysz says she and her husband — a church elder who excommunicated Mardon for infidelity — “struggled to comprehend” the bizarre offending to which they fell victim.

Considering how much more the Org seems to be attracting (and/or creating) unbalanced individuals these days, ten bucks says we can expect this kind of thing to happen more and more.

I've just seen this story. If true, it is very sad that this ex JW became criminal in his activities.

The guy has been charged, found guilty and is awaiting sentence.. Here's a link that gives some background information on the guy and what led him to his actions

It's not excusable but shows what can happen to a persons mental capacity when dealing with disfellowshipping and attempting reinstatement that drags on for months on end. Where it also involves ones friends, wife and children.

The elder involved turns around and sues the guy. I find it very hard to believe that this is what a leader in a so called Christian congregation does and believes it is the the best way to deal with it. So many times we have heard the GB say that people are becoming more litigious because they are wordly and they are greedy.

Also shocking is the way the elders became involved in his marriage and were causing a barrier between the guy and his wife.

I've heard rumours that in recent times, elders here in Australia have been told to stay out of marriage problems and not to give advice. Maybe this situation had something to do with it.
