I was just given the new book from the convention by a neighbor of mine and I was remembering that when I was in High School 85-89, we met the bethelite brother who was giving the special talk at our district assembly.

Most of the families from my congregation commuted, 20 miles, to the assembly in Fresno, CA. A local elder stayed with his family in the Hotel across the Selland Arena, Convention.

We where invited by his family to go swimming. I remember meeting the "older" brother from Bethel. I also remember that a couple of the young brothers from my congregation where invited by the bethelite to his suite. In his room they where able to jump into the hot tub.

I was just a naive latin girl & I remember asking the young brothers, how could a bethelite afford a suite with a hot tub? The bro's told me that the WTS received a complementary suite for the bethelites who traveled to give special talks.

My friends would have told us if the "bethelite" would have tried something on them. But now I'm wondering why the BETHELITE only invited the young brothers & not their parents their sisters, or kids.

There is no way we could know with the information you have presented.. We can only guess the intentions, which is usually a bad idea.

Perhaps he was good friends with one or several of the young bros?

If he's invited the young sisters, he may not have felt comfortable having young people of both sexes in his room.

You can only fit so many in a hot tub.

Perhaps the adults were invited, declined, but allowed their sons to go.

    Who cares?

And why don't you ask the young guys involved?

Most likely there was nothing suspect here - except for the status of getting that glorious room. The Bethel Boy dynamic has always been that of a "boys club". Many of these guys felt they couldn't have a good time with sisters around, since they would have to be on their best behaviour. Plus, in a hotel room, if sisters went, the situation would have been considered suspect as a hot tub and a lack of supervision was probably involved.

    COME ON PEOPLE!

An old man invites several young boys to his room to go hot tubbing???? No other adults invited??? You think nothing to it??? Parents should have been invited or other adults. It is highly suspect, especially the fact they were going into a hot tub together. What if this guy was a Catholic priest? Wouldn't it appear just a little odd?

The old guy was getting a chubby and maybe more...
