Well, you know what? Watchtower would have loved to have held her up and say "She died for her faith" <gag> <choke>.
But Lawrence and his supporters took that away from them.
and the little girl got six more months of life.

Seems they'll have to find another martyr for the cover of Asleep!
BX,
You speculated that "now they will say it's okay to get blood".
As you may have read, the new book "Worship the True God" left out the blood chapter. Does that indicate that the WT Society is going to leave its membership dangling for a while yet on this issue, while continuing to threaten AND disfellowship those who accept a transfusion?
And how long before they further confuse matters by saying "it is a CONSCIENCE decision". Don't you think they'll say something fuzzy like that, rather than come right out and say "blood therapy is okay"? Doing the latter would risk alienating hardline longtime JW's who contribute substantial financial support to the organization.
Actually in the baptism questions in the Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry book, the only place blood transfusions come up is in the section on Sanctity of Life, and only in the optional questions for discussion (page 191). I also understand that a separate insert was sent to the elders with questions on AIDS issues as well. I am surprised we haven't received an update to this book.
Optional questions for discussion: (a) How has the Scriptural view of blood affected your thinking on this matter? (b) As a Christian, what local foods or medical practices will you henceforth avoid? (c) How does the Bible teaching concerning the sanctity of life affect your view of certain dangerous sports or types of recreation? (My guess: no race car driving, no hang gliding, no bunge diving)(d) Does God's view of life and blood seem reasonable to you? (e) What stand should a Christian take if he is told that in order to save his own life or the life of a loved one a blood transfusion would be needed?
