Interesting experience today. I've been riding the bus
to work some of the time. Today while I was waiting at
one of the stops, a van drove by and I noticed the
people in it kind of looked at me. Well, about 2
minutes later, up walked a 13 (I'm guessing) year old
girl in a dress carrying a Watchtower. The van had
parked down the street, I hadn't noticed.

I didn't want to lay it on this girl too heavy, as she
was so young. So I told her I used to be a JW, and that
there was a reason why the WT is always warning them
about the internet, it is because there are things that
the WT doesn't want them to know. I told her that I
hope someday she looks into it. She didn't know what to
say, I didn't expect her to, so she just walked away.

It really hurt me a lot. She seemed like such a sweet
girl. Here I was in a kind of a shitty neighborhood,
and here was a girl who probably lived nearby but who
was involved in a religion that, regardless of its'
cultishness, protects her from a lot of the darker
elements of the world she lives in (but not from pedophiles in her congregation). It just kind of
made my mind reel. Life was so simple as JW, I kind of
long for my "innocent" JW days, when I was a true
believer. Alas, it can never happen again. I know too much.

    *sigh*

I have a lot of the same feelings! Except I never was a "True Believer". I think that was a contributing factor when I left.

One thing I wondered about though, did they send that girl out alone at 13?.Was anyone accompaning her?

Well, the van parked down the street, so they had her in sight. Plus, I'm probably not a very intimidating looking person.

The WT was "How Can You Benefit from Godly Principles".
