    To everyone from Australia,

I have viewed the recent airings on both BBC Panorama and Dateline, and was extremely disturbed and tearful from the child abuse cases. I must add also, that although I had heard alot about the child abuse, it was extremely shocking to have it PROVED beyond a shadow of a doubt, and to also watch the GB's cowardly response to the case.

I know this will make a huge impact on my JW freinds, and am very keen to get the story over here on perhaps "60 Minutes" being the most relevant show.

I dont know if a similar topic has been posted before, but how can we do this? I know my family and JW freinds will refuse to watch anything on the internet and know the only way they would watch it is if it came over here.

    Any ideas?

I think it is great you want to share the info with your JW friends, but the fact of the matter is--even if it did show over there they wouldn't watch it. There are two main reasons--1. they see it as apostate, someone who lies about it and only wants to hurt the org. 2. They have the fear of being disfellowshipped---cast out---considered dead to all they have loved, yes that includes family also. So, I don't think it being aired over there would make any difference. If they wanted to know they would look at the info on the net.

Maybe you can try printing the transcripts of the stories that you have seen on the net, and just don't tell them where you got the info untill afterwards. Only a suggestion. Love Jesika Thoman Dallas,Tx

Well, there's nothing you can do, I'm afraid, unless you are one of the victims.

I've tried to contact lawyers and the media in behalf of the abuse victims, but they didn't seem to pay attention to me. A friend of mine who is more experienced in this area told me that no one is going to listen to me unless I am one of the victims.

I understand that there were 4 victims who came forward in U.K. and who already have filed the lawsuits. So if you know any reporter personally, tell him/her about www.silentlambs.org and the recent airs of Dateline NBC and Panorama BBC. Or contact Bill Bowen at the silent lambs' website. He might have a list of victims from your country.

G'day In Between, Jesika and Sunshine,

Welcome aboard, we're glad to meet ya!

    In Between,

Where are you from? I wasn't sure when your post is titled "over here" - over where? In Oz?

When you ask about paedophile cases amongst the Australian JW community, the answer would have to be Yes.

There have been cases here in New South Wales where the offenders have moved away but are still in full association with the brotherhood. One or two I know of first-hand.

Just as was mentioned on the Panorama program, there is a record of Dub offenders held by the Australia Bethel.

I'm not sure at the moment that it would have "legs" as far as a 60 Minutes slot. The powerful message of the Panorama program was partly due to the police evidence, the convictions, and the evidence presented.

    Cheers, Ozzie

I agree with SunshineToo - unless the victims themselves wish to stand up and be public about their abuse, there is no story to bring forward to "60 Minutes" or any other current affair show. Not that Australian silentlambs have to tell their story - it's not like all countries are trying to out-do each other with silentlambs experiences.

I know of girls that have been abused, but didnt take the case to the police. But if they, or any other silentlambs, don't wish to speak out about their experience, then there's nothing else that can be done.

Of course, no silentlamb should be made to feel that they must speak out - just to survive each day is enough for some, whilst others may prefer to put the experience behind them.

I have already been talking to my Australian media contacts and they are going to watch the overseas programs first before taking it any further.

Anyone who was abused, if you wish, contact me privately, let me know if you are willing to talk publicly (even disguised if necessary) etc etc,. The more people we have here who have experienced the same the more interested they will be. I don't need to know all the details at this stage - only that you were abused and it was not handled properly.

I will keep your details in an encrypted file if you feel more secure that way.

    Yeah, i'm in Australia

Thanks for your help everyone, I disagree that my family will not watch the show over here, they are very interested in anything JW related in the media, even if it is negative, they are always very fascinated in how the public peceive them. They would probably get upset and presume it is apostate lies, but I know there would be a small piece in them that would be shocked and a little worried.

I understand now that it is quite difficult to make this happen, well done Jang on your work and please keep in touch with me on your developments, i'd love an e - mail from you, we are from the same area.
