Well I would say they are way off on the Witness number. The size now is only about six million. They must be using the memorial attendance.

    14.8m ??????????????

Never mind the memorial attendees, maybe that just the number of doors they knocked on last year .... given the dramatic drop in service hours...

or maybe it's the number of times they knocked on one door being convinced someone was inside.

    Li'l ol' cynical me ;)

(Baptised publishers nearer 6m... somewhat lower than their Salt Lake City rivals!!)

    That many, huh?

That number for Jehovah's Witnesses includes: any one who has ever taken the Watchtower (and it's companion magazine, Awake!); all witnesses, dead or alive, who have ever gone in field service (that is, dropped off an old magazine in a laundromat) for as long as 15 minutes, plus an estimate of any and all people who have ever tried to pronounce the tetragrammaton.

    14.8 million my ass.

    Francois says:

    14.8 million my ass.

My sentiments exactly. Even in the Jehovah's Witnesses OWN publications (like so many other contradictions) they ADMIT to have roughly 6 million members worldwide, with close to 15 million in Memorial Attendance.

Claiming all 15 million as active members?

    Lies.

This makes it even more blatantly obvious how misinformed many are, as these statistics are GROSSLY inaccurate.

I think the key words here are, "Number of Adherents". Some at the WT using inflated figures to make them look bigger than they really are. They must be using the momerial attendance figures but the are been hypocritical because we have always been told a you can not claim to be a Jehovah's Witness unless you are active in the field service.

Say what? Are receptive householders now counted as publishers? Not that I remember unless I'm misunderstanding you.

It's 6 million and it's been 6 million for many years. And to keep it at 6 million they've reduced the requirements to be a publisher.
