Eleven of Ozzie's Weekend Polls have appeared since they first began on April 14.
Thanks for sharing in your responses; hope it lightens things on a Sunday. If you've missed some, here's a summary, and for those interested in the results, a summary of the most common responses.
#1 What is the main reason for you not wanting to return?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=25652&site=3
The two most common responses were "Proven falsehoods" and " Stumbled by the elders' conduct". An interesting comment:" Too hostile an environment".
"the treatment by elders may have been the thing that knocked the blinkers off" (joy2bfree)
#2 What's the most enjoyable thing you do now that you've got 'time on your hands'?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=26103&site=3
The most common response was "FREEDOM", followed by " Time with the family at the weekends". Also this interesting comment was made " Knowing that you are 'good enough'".
#3 When Armageddon failed to arrive in 1975, did you..............
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=26639&site=3
The most common response was "Pretend it never happened", followed by " Figured it must be in 2000".
#4 What did you like most about the meetings?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=27454&site=3
Responses were ruled invalid!
#5 What did you like least about the meetings?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=27982&site=3
"Repetitious" and "Too many" were the winners here!
#6 What have you changed since finding out the truth about 'the troof'?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=28517&site=3
Attitude ("don't feel guilty") was the most common response, along with "spending time with the family on Sundays".
#7 What did you think when, in 1995, the Borg changed the 'Generation' teaching?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=30324&site=3
The most responses to any poll were made to this question, and the outstanding response was "Didn't understand it"!
#8 When the 'donation arrangement' for literature was introduced, did you........
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=30774&site=3
These were the three most common responses:
1. Decide to just pay up and not bother "inviting" donations.
2. Put money in the box at the literature counter when you collected your literature.
3. Think it was another tax dodge by the WTS.
That last one's interesting, isn't it?
#9 What was the first thing you thought of, when you heard that someone had been disfellowshiped?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=31178&site=3
No contest here! The runaway winner was: "I wonder what they did?"
#10 When you heard a re-instatement announcement, what was the first thing you thought of?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=31575&site=3
"So why was he/she disfellowshiped?"
#11 Which Witness teaching did you always have doubts about?
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=32095&site=3
The two outstanding responses were:
"Any of the teachings/interpretations from the book of Revelation, especially the beasts, and the bowls."
"Only Jehovah's Witnesses will be saved. "
So, the responses provide an illumination into the real thinking of the R&F. It could be that this is quite different to what the Borg thinks.
If you'd like to share in a Weekend Poll, be watching out for the next Sunday edition.
Cheers, Ozzie
