When I was still fairly new as a JW, we had a Congregation Servant (PO) who got himself in a very difficult situation, and in fact his whole family became involved ... I rarely saw such awkwardness in the Kingdom Hall ...
His wife was a Reg. Pioneer. He and his wife were often very generous and helped out younger JWs who needed a place to stay, etc. One day, his father became very ill. He was not able to travel to be with his dad right away, so he sent his wife. Soon following her to assist was a young JW man - I think he too Pioneered ... and they both stayed with the PO's dad for a few short months ...
... meanwhile, back at the ranch, his wife's sister came to stay with him and his children to help out while his wife was gone ... and, well, things happen ... even to JWs. ...
Then his dad dies, and the body is brought back home to have a Kingdom Hall funeral and to be buried locally ... with the body of his dad come his wife and the young brother ...
Here at the funeral ... are four people all about to be DF'd ... with ongoing JC meetings ... the PO, because he is now enjoying the pleasures of his sister-in-law, and of course his sister-in-law is about to be DF'd for providing too much aid and comfort to the PO ... and the young Pioneer brother is about to be DF'd because while he is away helping the POs wife a little too much ... and of course she too is about to be DF'd because she is pregnant with the young brother's child ... the only one that was not being DF'd was the unborn baby ...
It was all a sad mess ... awkward because at the funeral they were all aitting together as though everything was fine ... and were being nice to everyone, knowing full well that this was the last they would be seeing of us all for a while ... because back then to be DF'd meant you were out for a minimum of one full year ...
I can't help but also think that being JWs made the mess a little messier ... it does seem that JWs most often used to get into trouble for sexual transgressions ... as though that were the main attraction to pull them into disfavor with the Organization ... but, I wonder, if today that Apostasy has replaced Sex as the sin of preference?
