Nice article. Would be nice if some of the US papers and Internet media's would blast it around!Link +1 / -0 -

I'm beginning to wonder, maybe the shunning thing will lead to loss of tax-exempt status, at least in European and/or Asian countries?
IMHO, a really sharp ex-JW with intelligence & initiative could do a LOT of damage to the WTS if he could get the ear of legislators and explain just how insidious JW shunning really is.

Its always nice to get this out there, but its a small independent news article written by the same person the article sources.
Not saying its a negative.....just saying.

It's true, but came up in news search 'jehovahs witness'
So the more of this stuff that comes up the better

It's a nice, plainly-worded article by a former Witness. It throws around percentages rather a lot. As with much internet research, the "survey" is self-selected (I.e., it may not be representative of the overall extent of shunning of family members - its prevalence could be higher or lower).
Besides, the author cites his own book for support - but quotes it in the third person, as if quoting an additional strand of support for his assertions. He is not being dishonest, because the source is stated under his name. But it would be better in my opinion if he simply said, "Citing from an eatlier book I myself wrote..."
This is a good example of dressing up findings using the language of scientific research. Havor Montangue/Gerry Bergman did this a lot and deserved the criticism levelled at him as a result.
