I love it. I do the same thing with my wife sometimes. She doesn't ramble endlessly, though. Nothing is more annoying than the wife accusing me of not listening or caring.

Sadly, i'm guilty of doing this to my female friends. I usually don't take it to the point of them 'yelling' at me,,,but i have been given dirty looks when i ask them to repeat a whole paragraph cuz i suddenly realized too late that it was "important" and i shoulda maybe been listening instead of thinking about other stuff.
