One of my favorite computer games is The Sims, but I got to thinking that if I was still a JW, I probably wouldn't be allowed to play it. There were so many things growing up that we couldn't play with or do because of this or that regulation. Examples:
Smurfs
Trolls
Chess
Magic tricks with coins or cards
Toy guns (including squirt guns. My mother even snipped off the guns of my brothers' cowboy sets)
Barbie
Doctor/Nurse hypodermic (removed by my mother because they were for vaccinations)
The Lord of the Rings
Now I've heard that Harry Potter books are also being banned.
So, what about The Sims? Does anyone play that? Have the JWs banned that too? I imagine it will happen eventually if it hasn't already because of the astrological overtones in the Sim personalities and because they are bisexual. They also have Christmas Trees, Minorehs (sp?), birthday cakes, and genie lamps.
In the new version The Sims Online, the Sims are combined with the Internet to create an online world. I imagine the JWs will especially ban that because of the Internet element. How would a JW know that the Sim he is talking to online isn't an xJW? Do bad Sim associations spoil bad Sim habits?
Does anyone else who plays this game care to venture an opinion on when they will counsel against the Sims?
