    Hi everyone,

    Does anyone know in which countries the WTS asks for donations & in which countries the WTS sells them?

    If the WTS changed from selling to donations, what year was it?

    US - Donations (from 1990 ?) - current. Where sold for 50 cents a piece.

    I'd like to start a list with these facts. If you know some these answers, please help by posting your countires information.

    Thank you,

    Okay, I'm dating things like an Old Person, by events instead of hard time, but I remember still asking for donations after I got married in 1983, so I would say somewhere in the mid-80's, maybe around 1986 or 1987 in the U.S. we stopped asking for a set price and changed to the donation thing. And I think I remember the last price being a quarter per magazine and $1.00 for the little books. However, I have a hard time remembering what I had for breakfast, so don't take it as gospel truth.

    I'm not sure of this information but I think that beginning January 1, 2000, WTS directed that all its literature be distributed thru the "donation" arrangement. I'm from a third world African country where this change was implemented on the date I have stated. I remember the PO saying that this was going to be the arrangement throughout the world and not just in the developed countries as had previously been the case.

    In the USA, the donation arrangement was instituted after the failed attempt of the WT Society at helping Billy Swaggart (spell?) win his court case about taxed literature sales. It was 1989, I think.

    In 1989 I visited Argentina and they were still asking for a set price, while in the US we were suppose to be asking for a donation. I say suppose to be, because I never heard a single witness I was with ask for a donation. I even mentioned that to some of my "friends" and they didn't want to talk about it.

    Canada = "donation arrangement"

    One or two provinces within Canada = "illegal to ask for/suggest donations otherwise each dub pub would hafta register" or something like dat.
