I found this video segment to be very interesting. Substitute jw for mormon and russell/rutherford for smith and you have a very good comparison. Maybe post-jw's could all meet up at a blood bank for coffee.

To be honest i think the Mormons have got a harder sell, and are taken more to task on their ideas, than the witnesses. I thought the witnesses were pretty out there doctrinally and with some of their ideas but Mormons just go to a whole new level. Here is just one example.

Dose this sound very 1914ish. I do like the Mormon example as they are also having the same issues as the JWs e.g internet, membership retention, explaining their beliefs and ideas. Quite often when reasoning with JWs I will use the Mormon church as an example, to get away from the idea that this is coming from a mentally diseased X-JW apostate. Although I've never woken anyone up, it's got the point across. One thing I do give the Mormon church credit for, is their openness and transparency in dealing with their problems. "Good for you mormon church". It's something Wt could learn from. In summing up the 2 religions I believe although Mormons are more fanciful in their ideas, Wt is more dangerous.
