The underground route to the new system

I heard a rather disturbing phrase recently.

I know a JW who is suffering from bi-polar disorder. He is periodically institutionalized, and has tried suicide on at least one occasion. Although I cant personally begin to fully comprehend what he is going through, he made a statement that I found strangely disturbing. It was relayed to me by my mother.

He spoke about the underground route to the new system. His life is obviously pretty hard, and he speculates that maybe it is easier to get into the new system through the resurrection, rather than by slugging it out through a long, hard, life.

Now, there are any number of conclusions and observations that can be drawn from this. But, it just strikes me as one more way that this goofball religion has warped people.

Yeah, except they consider suicide a non-resurrectable sin.

    *** g90 9/8 23 Suicides-A Resurrection? *** A Merciful

Stunned friends of a suicide victim may thus take comfort in knowing that Jehovah has shown mercy to those fearing him. For he himself well knows the formation of us, remembering that we are dust. (Psalm 103:10-14) Only God can fully understand the role of mental sickness, extreme stress, even genetic defects, in a suicidal crisis, which, the National Observer noted, is not a lifetime characteristic [but] often a matter only of minutes or of hours.See Ecclesiastes 7:7.

Granted, one who takes his own life deprives himself of the opportunity to repent of his self-murder. But who can say whether one driven to suicide might have had a change of heart had his fatal attempt failed? Some notorious murderers have, in fact, changed and earned Gods forgiveness during their lifetime.2 Kings 21:16; 2 Chronicles 33:12, 13.

Thus, Jehovah, having paid a ransom in exchange for many, is within his right to extend mercy, even to some self-murderers, by resurrecting them and giving them the precious opportunity to repent and turn to God by doing works that befit repentance.Matthew 20:28; Acts 26:20.

I suppose it has been for a while......

Add that to the list of stupid Watchtower quotes.

But it does fit with their m.o. perfectly. I can just imagine the family of someone who just comitted suicide reading those words and the comfort they must feel.

I am touched by the compassion of that Awake article. I'ts almost as touching as when they admitted that some of the colored friends might be smart enough to understand those complicated Watchtower articles afterall.
