So how many audiophiles do we have here?

Just thought I'd share a couple of speaker projects I have going on.

The first picture is one of a pair of home speakers I built using Sony X-Plod car 6x9's. I used two per cabinet and wired them in series to give an 8-ohm load so they would work with home receivers.

The second picture is one of my surround channel speakers. I've had the drivers for some time in different enclosures and since I had the time this past weekend and a few bucks to spend on the MDF (two sheets, cutting fees, glue, and caulk ran me $60), I built the cabinets you see. I made them tall since they're surrounds and they are placed behind the couch. All the drivers are Pioneers. From bottom to top: 8" woofer, 5" mid, 1" titanium dome tweet, and another 5" mid. I used a couple of cans of that expanding foam insulation that comes in aerosol cans to fill the bottoms of the cabinets, then added some Acousta-stuff fill for the rest of the interiors.

I had two Jensen floorstanding 3-way loudspeakers which were replaced by the Sony X-Plod creations so that meant spare parts. I built two small sealed enclosures and put the 12" woofers from the Jensens in them to use for subwoofers. I've got them wired in parallel to a bridged Carver amp for now but I plan on buying individual subwoofer amps eventually.

(btw, using an Onkyo TX-DS555 Dolby Digital receiver)

I put the new system through some testing this weekend. Since I use it primarily for movies, it was a DVD-fest yesterday. I was pretty satisfied with the results. I need to build some better subwoofers, though. And I'm going to build a new pair of front channels so I can take the Sony 6x9's back to the shop.

So what's everyone else got? Post some pics!
