And where yours? In the toilet. Don't flush it!!
Just another Jail-House convert.
Hmmm, wonder why there's so many 'God-Loving' men in prison in the first place.
LDH,
I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. Alot of good people make bad decisions. Yes rape is an awful thing, but who is to say he hasn't changed? Why don't they put people in prison for the rest of their lives? One mistake or two mistakes as horrible as they may be DOES NOT constitute a life of evil intent.
As for the answers to the topic over there. How unchristian were they? I thought it was awful that they basically threw in their two cents worth haughty as always. Funny thing is another subject on this forum was brought up "Should I pioneer" None of the responses to this person were as shallow and condeming as the answers given on WOL by "the only true followers of Christ"
Get with the program people and remember that we don't have to be this way anymore. We actually can accept others where they stand and take it they are who they are. Not try to read their hearts and sniff at how high we are.
Peace LDH and no offense ok?

Mommy,
I got the impression that the man was serving three life sentences for murder as well as rape. This is not a particularly good resume. I think the man "got religion" in order to get some sex. It is good to show mercy, but if the man is a true psychopath his "repentance" is phony and he will continue to severly damage everyone that touches his life.
Larc,
So we must live our lives in a secluded world? Never going outside of our social circle? Never trusting or having faith in anything people tell us?
Time will tell what his intent is and yes he may be faking, but why not give him the benefit?

I'll admit to being a bit conflicted on this one. On the one hand, I feel that rape is so over the top abusive that in most cases it calls for the death penalty (sorry my soft english friends), and murder should be automatic suicide for the murderer. These crimes KEEP hurting people for so long after the actual crime. These criminals are many times more likely to repeat the same or worse crimes. No witness baggage in my saying it, but I think there ARE things worth the price of life.
On the other hand, the Society loves to say that the truth can change even the worst of people. And, I would even agree that the worst of people, on very rare occasion, do change. Very rare occasions. As a Witness, I would have been excited to welcome this man into the fold. Marry my sister? That I can't say. (why on earth the state would allow a prisoner to marry is beyond me)
I can understand a Witness being worried about their relative or close friend doing this. But, notice that none of them really seem to believe that the truth REALLY changes people, or even in the saving Grace of Jesus sacrifice. Or even that Jehovah could have had a hand in answering this sister and brothers prayers. None of them are willing to just automatically accept this jailbird as a baptised brother--washed completely clean.
Let me remind you, that is the concept. WASHED COMPLETELY CLEAN. No ifs, ands, or buts. No namby-pamby "give him time to prove he really loves Jah" stuff. Where is their faith in that concept? Hence my topic's title.
Mommy,
Since sociopaths are a small percent of the population, I don't consider my life secluded if I don't include them in my social circle. I do it for very practical reasons. I don't want me or my loved ones to be damaged by them. I have known several sociapaths in my time here on earth, and I have seen them do severe damage to others.
