I wanted to laugh; brilliant work! - this cartoon is exactly how jw'ism is. Fortunately "Brother Kent" no longer goes in the ministry because he is (you choose) waiting for paradise by way of:

being confined to home as a "shut-in".

being in Jah-Jireh nursing home provided by brothers and sisters in England who ran ahead of the great organizational chariot.

    "a resurrection".

Profoundly sad really - just as sad as a little boy being dragged around from door to door.

Hadn't seen that one. Boy did that bring back (bad) memories! The horror of seeing kids from school while witnessing! At least the kid didn't have to take a turn at the doors! Didn't you love it when your partner got someone who let him talk all day and it consumed the whole time and you never had to do your turn again?? That was such a huge relief to look at your watch and see 'ooooh. It's noon!!! No way are we going to do any doors after this one!!! AND we are at the corner of the street!!'

I know this was supposed to be funny, maybe? There were some humorous parts but oh, poor little boy. I have been out 30 years and I still find it sad to be reminded of what it was like.

Absolutely brilliant in its attention to detail about the ordinariness and drudgery - and for younger ones, the excruciatingly stifling self-consciousness - of the JW-lifestyle.

Whoever put this together captured perfectly the emotional "deafness" of JW door-knockers, exemplified by the continued spiel about "God" and what "He" says in the Bible when a householder identifies as being an athiest. Oh, and the assumptions JWs make about people (Speaking to the little Witness boy about the athiest as they walk to the next house, the old male Witness observes, "He must be confused because of what the Catholic priest told him about God". Those kinds of non sequiturs typify JW-speak).

The sister discussing cake recipes with another sister whilst door-knocking could have been my dear mother.

The little boy's repressed facial expressions were delightful and sad to watch. That could have been me.

As for the male householder dropping the towel and saying he had something for the two adult male witnesses, that never happened to me - ever. But had it happened, it may have just made the long hours of painful drudgery worthwhile. At least one Witness's prayers would have been answered that day - and a return visit for a "Bible Study" would have been a must.

An astutely observant and touching video - right down to the contorted voices.

I've seen several of these. They are spot on in capturing the kingdom hall experience, the boredom, the people, the sheer stupidity. It's funny, but almost painful, it brought back so many bad memories.

Sweet baby Jesus, why did I join ths stupid blood sucking cult ????

Go easy on yourself LisaRose. You were likely in another space when you first showed "interest". I was raised in an era during which the organization shaped us to think we really and truly belonged to a rational- minded, non-emotional fellowship of true believers. I recall how powerfully compelling it was to be at the kingdom hall and conventions of the late 60s and early to mid 1970s. It was religiously invigorating and intoxicating. Of course, we lived and breathed our "faith" in a sealed vacuum. And coming back down to earth was a shockingly painful experience.

When your eyes are opened, of course, there is utter astonishment you could have ever believed such bullsh*t. But boy, for a flash in time, belonging was wonderful. Those days are well and truly over. Once bitten, twice shy. The card paradise has collapsed under its own ludicrousness and I can feel a mixture of adtonishment, sadness and laughter when I see videos that show it like it is - unvarnished religious stupidity drearily disguised as "the truth" about the meaning and purpose of life. Never again!
