I'm just curious if any body knows or can give an example of a Kingdom Hall that needed renovating/repairing after the KH bank accounts were stripped.

At my old congregation the local BOE had already voted to use funds, they even took the congregation vote on the proposal to build an expansion on the back of the hall to build it into an apartment for C.O. visits or when we have any special speakers in town, etc... They had the funds, the BOE unanimously voted yes, then came the money grubbing letter from WTS...

They were told that the money could still be used for their project, they would just submit their proposal to the WTS and they would get their funds approved. Once the WTS got their money, the subsequent proposal to use their funds was denied.

The BOE just took it in stride, I saw it as straight up robbery, WE raised that money, WE allocated those funds to be used at our hall, WTS takes the money and then tells us how we can't use the money WE saved.

Perhaps, but will they be raising those kinds of funds again?

I suspect that as time passes, incidents such as these will be remembered by the sheeple and give them reason to not give as generously as the GB wants.

the _doctor10 , so im wondering how man people in the cong knew that went down, or is it only the elder body that knew it? how many of those are still elders, Id be so ticked off id leave.

my past cong was told by the co they had to renovate the toilets and small kitchen area (never used). There was nothing wrong with either. This sort of updates was done to prevent any cong from building up excess funds (money is seen to equal independence)

I never heard that they ever went ahead. But is later the begging letters from bethel came out so the money has gone west I guess.

Most in that cong are pensioners the way.

People may not leave over these kinds of things, but they don't forget either. They will vote with their pocketbooks and the Watchtower will eventually run out of income streams to tap into, you cannot get blood out of a turnip.

The more desperate the Watchtower gets and the more harsh the shake down becomes, the more people will be turned off and deaf to the demands. I stopped contributing years before I left, I am sure other will do the same.
