The 1983 year book reported that...

To assist his dedicated people to accomplish this twofold publishing work, Jehovah has provided his

forward-moving organization with many high-speed offset printing presses as well as modern bookbinding equipment. He has also equipped his people with the latest technology in the field of computer phototypesetting. And in many parts of the world he has provided expanded housing facilities in the way of Bethel homes for the personnel, and printing factories for the machinery in order to get this message into printed form in more than 160 languages.

Is it not interesting that this forward-moving organisation who utilise the "latest technology" to witness about Jehovah maintain only a limited presence on the internet, warn members not to set up witness related sites, warn members not to research the 'truth' using the internet and continue to copyright material which could be distributed cheaply and freely across the net?

I think we all know why.

I distinctly remember in the years coming up to 1975 that some questioned why the society would expend so much on equipment and property to expand the preaching work when they were being told to not go to school, buy homes or extend their careers. Many talks were given trying to explain to the pubs why the society was forging ahead with the end sooo near.

Yes, isn't it strange how Jehovah God's One Only True Religion on Earth that claims their MAIN PURPOSE is to spread THE TRUTH, does not have an E-Mail Address on their Website?

For some reason, Jehovah does not like ePublishing of the WT literature. --VM44

Let's not forget though that on their official site they do post articles from the latest wt publications so you can't be too critical of the use of the web.To me it's just the fact that they don't want you thinking for yourself and cross referencing the material via the nasty apostate sites .Like this site for instance that has all the wt blunders for everyone to see is always taboo to the JW.THe watchtower is not infalible after all , ohhhhhhhhhh noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I'm not familiar with printing machery. My family business is metal manufacturing. We use mechanical presses to cut/bend/put holes in steel. I'm guessing printing eq is way more complex. For brand new (I'm sure the society doesn't buy used stuff) state of the art mechanical presses you're looking at any where from 500k to over 2-3 million dollars for eq like that.

To give you some idea - companies such as GM, Ford, and Chrylser buy state of the art new eq. Nearly most other companies who are in metal stamping buy used eq. mostly from the large 3 car companies. Our company has a few presses that were built in the early 1900s and they work great for our purposes.

Just to give you some perspective on the amount of money they are spending.
