What will bite the WTB&S in the butt?

In a word, Lawyers, and they will be the lawyers that the WTB&S has trained to staff the worldwide legal department is in the last few years.

What happens when any other business gets cash and asset heavy? In a nutshell, the LAWYERS figure out a legal way to sell the assets and line the pockets of themselves and the CEO's and other high ranking corporate officers. The Watchtower is just another corporation.

Back in the 40's, Hayden Covington was the heroic defender of Wtiness freedom in the states. He had a very small staff (if any). Corporate law was a small focus at that time.Legal stuff was a "necessary evil" so to speak. Local Congregations arranged loans and finances on a local basis.

In the last 20 years or so the WT legal staff has grown to meet the challenges of running an international business with complex legal issues. To meet the challenge the Society trained several lawyers from the pool of candidates availible in Bethel homes or other suitable brothers.

The knowlege of things corporate is very limited to the average witness. Most, for example, do not realise that the local kingdom hall is under a perpetual mortgage subject to the control of the WT society. In my opinion, I would not think any one on the GB is totally aware of the day to day corporate and legal wranglings of the legal staff either.

So in my opinion the demise of the Watchtower will come from within. What is to stop the legal minds they have trained and retained in powerful position from screwing the WTB&T society out of their assets?

History has a way of repeating itself. The Societys' first major shake up was executed by a lawyer, the "Honorable" "Judge" Rutherford. Whats to stop the legal staff on board today from gutting the Watchtower's finances and assests from within, and bailing out on a "golden parachute"? This has happened in other corporations, it can happen in the WTB&S.

Final thought-- If the legal department is heineous enough to do what they do to abuse victims in open court do any of us believe the are not evil enough the "steal" the WT right out from under the Rank and File brothers and their senile leaders, The Governing Body?

You have made a cogent point supreme. May it happen exactly as you have dreamed it will. It would serve the legalistic minded bastards right to be done in by the same legalisms they have practiced against all of us.

    Soon.

Wouldn't this just be such sweet justice?! Like Jesus said of the Pharisees, "white on the outside, rotten on the inside."

I've worked for several lawyers over the years, and they all "joked" with me that there is no one they distrusted more than another lawyer. LOL It takes a shark to recognize a shark, eh? And sharks always go where the blood is.

    Good point, Hill.

Thanks Francois- for the comment. Ona--methinks this will be a classic case of "biting the hand that feeds them.

Did you ever hear a story like this? Nerdy Cousin Ralph goes to college, gets a degree, passes the bar and becomes a lawyer... all financed and mentored by Old Auntie Sara?

Ralph helps Auntie parlay her widow's pension into a huge nest egg over the next 20 years... in gratitude for the "help" he got from her... all the while planning to SCREW her out of every nickle- while she's on her death bed.

The WT's "home made" legal staff will turn on them... and I don't think Brooklyn will see it coming. Any corporation that does $951 billion- well thats got to be a lot of bucks on the table. And some crafty bastards figured an angle to scam that cash.

There is an old saying in my part of the country, "if I will lie FOR you I will lie to you". And the business staff at Bethel fits that old saw to a "T".

Are you trying to say that the society is worth $951 Billion, sheesh thats one hell of a load of cash, amongst 6,000,000 thats around $158,000 per member, how do i cash mine in??

seriously, how did you get that figure?

Gee, hill. I hope you are wrong. I don't like to see the bullies win. I think a lot of the problems with WTS have to do with the legal guys (read pharisees) sucking all the love out of the organization. I would like to see Bethel kick out the legal department.

$951 billion is the gross for the business... that figure is wos posted on this forum in the last few days in a list of the biggest NYC area companies... the NYC area assets are worth a big pile of money alone...plus the WT holds tha note on local Kingcom Halls etc.

The WT accounting for hard assets will be fuzzy at best, they are, after all, a NON Profit orginization. Rest assured they are worth a lot of money.

$158 K per member-- ha -you ain't goinin' see the gravey train bro. You may be a attendee, publisher, or the cheif bottle washer but the Rank and file faithful is not a "stockholder" by any stretch of the term. The only way you might see a peice of Watchtower pie is if one of these proposed class or world action suites flies.
