Thank you for remembering me on my birthday. I really didn't expect it and was surprised.
My daughter and her family just left about a half an hour ago, around 10:30 P.M. It was a simple yet fulfilling and great day. With all your birthday wishes, you make me feel like
The day started off early this morning in IMs with an old friend in England, discussing everything, her family and mine, politics, our birthdays, Silentlambs ( she is well aware of the goings on in England) and whatever else came to miind, about an hours worth all together.
Follow that with being recognized by an old adversary and now friend, DocBob, from my AOL JW apologist days. Then, I received a lengthy email from an old JW friend from AOL who is having questions now and recently found out I was DA'd and wanted to contact me to reestablish contacts.
Next, about an hour long telephone call from my daughter in Dallas, Texas wishing me a happy birthday.
Next, trying to relax before my oldest daughter came by, after a long and hectic week. They showed up and we went off to a High School Bazaar where her half-sister attends. Boy, good thing for me I'm no longer in High School. The way the girls look today and dress, I would have never studied and passed, LOL. We wandered around and watched Kim getting dunked in the dunk tank, especially by James, my oldest grandson. Julie had a button made for me to wear saying, "smile, it's my birthday."
Next, they took me to a Thai resturaunt where I had a scrumpotous meal I can't even pronounce. It contained sauteed pork with eggplant, mushrooms, bean sprouts all in a red curry sauce with a side order of breaded shrimp and a glass of Thai tea. Afterwards, we stopped at Baskin Robbins where I got some Miami Mint ice cream and we came back to my house, where we all watched "We Were Soldiers." The grandson watched cartoons in my bedroom, as I felt the movie a bit intense for a 4 year old.
When the movie ended, they gave me presents. Nothing elaborate, but ones I will enjoy for a long time. Two DVDs of Red Skeltons old TV shows and a double DVD of Porky's and Porky's II. LOL, she was going to get "Singing In The Rain" as she remembers once when she was a little girl, her and I sitting up late and watching it together while her Mom and sister slept. She made a better choice with Porky's, LOL.
All in all, it was a great day and one I have needed for some time.
LB, not to worry about me being so old. When you are around, I always feel young (at least younger)
Craig, just let me know when you and Katie wish to come over and I'll make that Ziti dinner, maybe even homemade french bread.
Thank you Dutchie for remembering and all the rest of you for such fond birthday wishes. With my family and friends such as you, I am a very wealthy man.
