There is a forum put together by some Jehovah's Witnesses, trying to put together some of the missing pieces of their history, in particularly the years years C.T. Russell was a member of the Adventist Church, wanting information on those early influences.

Perhaps some of the more informed ones here can enlighten them, since the moderator of the board seems to be talking to himself! lol

Russell was not, as far as I know, ever a member of the Adventist Church (whatever that may be).

Jan, like the Einstein quote, very cool. Russell did have association with the Adventist and thats where he acquired many of his teachings on chronology, one of such being 1914. "Thinking is hard work, thats why so few people do it" 3.14 chow

Sorry to burst your bubble Jan, but during the years 1868-1878, Russell was affiliated with the Advent Christian Church, a direct descendant of the Millerite group.

His name appears in quite a few Adventist journals [NOT Seventh Day Adventist] as a contributor both financially and editorially, he wrote for both the Bible Examiner and Herald of the Morning, financially supporting "The Herald."

His mentors were George Storrs and George Stetsons, BOTH PROMINENT Adventist Christians, who Russell himself states, he was indebeted to them.

Although the Advent Christi Church does not recognize Russell/Bible Students or Watchtower/Jehovah's Witnesses as their brethren or cousins in the faith. Their early litrature of that time refute that!

I have been in close contact with many Advent Christians, who are now just realizing the impact they had on Pastor Russell as the so-called founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Their libraries now have a nice supply of Russell's original writings, thanks to the contributions of the Bible Students, and a history is in the works on a full scale history of Russell, his years with the Advent Christian Church and his influences.

    Don't challenge me on this .... you'll lose! :)
