I believe that it is possible for us to live again after we die. This has nothing to do with relgion it just seams to make sense to me , although it doesn't mean that we will, only that it is possible.

This is based on the following reasoning .If our conciousness us just a function of our brain, and our brain is just a pattern of atoms, then all that needs to happen is a recreation of this pattern.

Computers are getting more powerful, maybe sometime in the future we could map an entire brain and recreate it in a test tube.Maybe the DNA of dead people could be used to recreate them. Since the specific birth of yourself happened and your particular brain was "created" there is no reason it can not happen again with the right conditions, even naturaly.

If the brain is more than just what we think it is, and has an existance like a soul or is an effect like gravity caused by the physical makeup of the brian interacting with something else , then it should still be possible to live again if the brain is recreated.

Whether this will ever happen I dont know.

I found it intriguing to read the statement that "when you have been dead and buried for a hundred million years, then one fraction of a second of eternity has elapsed". Eternity is something more than "a very long time", it not only is something differently in a quantitative sense, but also in a qualitative sense. If the Universe is eternal, goes on and on forever, and time too, then everything which it is possible to imagine, everything conceavable, will happen - and so we WILL live again ................

Its like a conversation that I use to have endlessly while smoking cannabis. It is intriguing at the time, nobody can prove anything either way and it becomes utterly pointless pursuing it

Kind of like Bible miracles as well - no scientific grounding to them - they don't occur now. Nobody can provide hard evidence that they ever occured and so on and so forth .... all pointless waffle !

Maybe we should concentrate on what is real for a change. People suffering, bad relationships, racism, etc and concentrate our mental energies there ... just a thought.

    bye -

    Maybe, maybe ..............

But does everything have to be so useful?

No - I like a bit of fantasy.

Just blowin' some steam. I guess I get sick of all this wondering sometimes. This site gets on my tits sometimes.

Don't take it personally, just a statement.

There's a book by Frank Tipler related to this. It's called The physics of Immortality He imagines a future Billions of years from now, when the quest 'for total knowledge' will prompt the creation of a supercomputer he calls the omega point. It will simulate the every possible quantum state of every atom in the universe. Whatever quantum state makes up 'you' will also be simulated, allowing you to live your life again. Of course every other possible life for you (great ones as well as horrific ones) will also be simulated.

Personally, I think Prof.Tipler just wrote it for some quick cash.

I think Prof. Tipler is 'Tipl - er' .... at least a brew or two.
