hey Gerard,
I'll have to go back and search more throughly through the info that I picked up from alot of different sites. What I did find regarding Rand Technologies didn't list the owners, but looks like they are most likely connected. I came across Rand Worldwide by way of Regi U.S. Like I said, I must have looked at twenty websites, and it's not fresh in my mind but it went something like:
This is a relevant part of a wire from 1987, before Reg Resources became Reg Tech.

so Reg Resources Corp became Reg Tech, (who's subsidiary is Regi, who according to:
http://marketwatch.nytimes.com/custom/nyt-com/html-secfilingsfull.asp?symb=[RGUS&sid =[
financed their (regi's) operations mainly through a cost sharing arrangement and"funding received from our affiliate companies (common directors) and our controlling shareholder, Rand Energy Group Inc. and its 51% shareholder Reg Technologies Inc.")
so anyway, the Rand Technology Inc. that I found, some of the relevant part:

Rand Technology Inc. more than doubled its sales in 1999, topping the $100
million mark. That rapid growth solidified Rand's position as a key distributor
of passive components and spurred additions to the company's executive
management, sales, and purchasing teams, said Gary Brewer, senior vice president
of global sales.

This certainly does not prove that this Rand Technology, Inc. is the Rand Technologies, Inc. that Reg Tech could obtain interest in. After all, Reg was going to obtain interest in Rand Tech in '87, and according to this Rand's website (link above), it was founded in '92 I believe. But they also branched out from another Rand that existed before "92 because it states that the president was a salesperson for the company prior to that. There are quite a few coincidences. There are eight or so small "Rand Technologies, Inc." throughout the states, small sole-proprietorships with 1-4 employees that are listed as computer and equipment dealers or computer integrated system design, etc. etc. Another coincidence perhaps. I tried Oregon's secretary of state site only because Regi was incorporated there and I typed in Rand Technologies just on a chance.. It was Oregon's website that listed Rand Technologies of Michigan. Inc. Oregon doesn't require corporations to list owners, but Iisted its place of business as Michigan, its registered agent in Oregon, and its secretary and mailing address in Mississauga, Canada. I believe this is at:
http://sos-venus.sos.state.or.us:8080/beri_prod/pkg_web_name_srch_inq.show_detail?p_be_rst
Michigan's website showed that Rand Tech of MI, Inc has 2 employees, is a U.S. private company, incorporated in 1989, listed as doing computer integrated system design. Assumed names for Rand Technologies of Michigan, Inc., according to Michigan's Bureau of Commercial Services, are:
Assumed Names: Id Num: Filing date: Exp. date:
Ascent Centre for Technical Knowledge 386101 12-14-2001 12-31-2006
Rand Worldwide 386101 01-11-2001 12-31-2006
___________________________________________________________________________
That's where the Rand Worldwide came from. Never really checked any further than that, I wasn't even really checking Rand Technologies at the time. But I believe that all the little Rand Technologies, Inc.'s scattered around the states are tied to Rand Technology Inc., the semiconducter distribution company in California.
Edited to add and clarify: I know this Rand of Michigan, Inc. and/or Rand Technologies, Inc. may perhaps be a coincidence, but there just seem to be too many coincidences for something not to be connected. All I know for sure is that Rand Worldwide is an assumed name of Rand Technologies of Michigan Inc.
I tried to get on a database remotely but there seems to be a problem tonite. I will try again and see if I can find anything else. This is just what I had on hand.
