I was flipping thru the latest issue (Dec. 2002) of the popular magazine PSYCHOLOGY TODAY, and noticed some book reviews. The article on pg. 76 is entitled "CQ: Psychology Today introduces Culture Quotient (CQ), a review of the season's most psychologically astute...books, ..." And one the 11 books they chose to bestow this description upon was Diane Wilson's new book, Awakening of a Jehovah's Witness: Escape From the Watchtower Society". Wow!!! To have such a major magazine give their support to this book, which exposes the devastating ways the WTS has affected lives, is a real accomplishment! I have read her book, and it is outstanding. Very different that any other book about the JWs. Very easy reading, but really packs a wallop! I am happy to see it given recognition from such a respected secular magazine.

VERY pleased to hear this, she deserves a mention. She also has such a great sense of humour after experiencing the consequences of being involved in that abusive system. She's a survivor.

Is the article too long to type up or post here?

I think that's wonderful. In my opinion, that book deserves more recognition than it's been receiving.Very well-written and easy to relate to,for me anyhow.

Cool.........I just ordered her book - and Morrisamb's book also - from Amazon. Went to Barnes & Nobles site first, but they didn't offer "Awakening............" over there. Amazon has free freight right now, btw.

Will go out and buy Psy. Today also!

What an encouragement thread. I have read the book mentioned and it is part of my library. Very well put together, very accurate, very emotional. Well worth the read. I made a list of all my books that I've gathered in my library over the years, and posted them here in September, and this one was included.

I highly recommend reading this true account. She really went through so much, and we can "see" ourselves in so much of her experience. She is a survivor.

What a tremendous accomplishment to have her book featured in Psychology Today!

I double checked Barnes and Nobles, and indeed, you can get it there, as well as Amazon. There are links too from her website www.dianewilson.net

    Congradulations Diane!!

I bought and read the book. It is fascinating reading and lays it all out so clearly for non-JWs like me. I have a list of friends who are waiting to borrow it.

That is one book I haven't read yet. Think I will get it.

My husband and I have read Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom. We have just received yesterday from Amazon, The Sign of the Last Days-When? and The Gentile Times Reconsidered. Amazon took awhile getting them to us, but they finally arrived. My husband has started reading The Sign........and is finding the information there very interesting.
