    Outrageous Quotes

LDS PROPHET Gordon B. Hinckley during Mission Presidents Seminar: Our
message is so imperative, when you stop to think that the salvation, the
eternal salvation of the world, rests upon the shoulders of this Church.
When all is said and done, if the world is going to be saved, we have to do
    it.
Hinckley stated in the October Conference about Jesus Christ and LDS Church
founder Joseph Smith, who was born on Dec. 23, 1805, At this season not
only do we commemorate with all the Christians world the birth of the son
of God, but we also observe the birth of prophet Joseph.

RUSSEL BALLARD of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke of false
prophets and worldly philosophies in a speech at their last October
Conference. We warn you that there are false prophets and false teachers
arising; and if we are not careful, even those who are among the faithful
memberswill fall victim to their deception.

There are false prophets and false teachers who have or at least claim to
have membership in the church. There are those who, without authority,
claim church endorsement to their products and practices. Beware of such.
There are self-appointed declarerswho seek to spread their false gospel
and attract followers by sponsoring symposia, books, and journals who
contents challenge fundamental doctrines of the church. Such people dub
church founder Joseph Smith Jr. a duplicitous deceiver or challenge the
authenticity of Smiths first vision of God and Jesus Christ and the Book of
    Mormon.

In the Lords church there is no such thing as a loyal opposition. One is either
for the kingdom of God and stands in defense of Gods prophets and apostles, or
    one stands opposed.

I don't understand why these are "outrageous"

    chibiwellington,

The reason they are outrageous is because Joseph Smith claimed to be "the prophet" of God brought up to guide the true church. Joseph was nothing more than another false prophet himself, yet condemned others as such. The nonsense JS taught would apply to himself just as the WTBTS warnings about false prophets would apply to themselves.
