It took six years and three trials before a senior official in the Jehovah's Witness Church was jailed for sexually abusing his daughter.
The only support the Jehovah's Witnesses gave the woman was to tell her to" put her tears in a skin bottle".

wow... when in doubt quote obscure, strange sounding, bronze age scriptures that will sound utterly culty and bizarre in a trial. This stuff is making them out to be giant assholes!
I'm trying to find the original article I read this in. The first article I read this quote in was on my phone early this morning. Apparently, the victim had written the branch, and this was their response back.
This wasn't the Elders telling her to "put her tears in a skin bottle." It was the actual branch.
Yeah, it was in one of the letters from the branch to her in regards to her being upset that her father had been reinstated.

EDIT: letters are at 1h 10min in, the name of them is read so you should be able to find them, they are also mentioned latter during the testimony of one of the elders.
We already knew they are giant assholes. Now the rest of the world can know too.

I was floored when I heard that the victim was told that. It is reprehensible.
That aside, though, "Tears in a Skin Bottle" would make a good tilte for a book/movie. Or maybe a song...
Maybe both. A movie about all of this, with a soundtrack...tears in a skin bottle...blood running down my cheeks...
