There are people who maintain than love is based on religous ideals. Since I am not religious and look at love and nurturance in a very different fashion, I will share my opinion with you. I think that all mammals are programed to have "love" for there young. Have you ever watched a dog or a cat or any other mammal of a "lower form" take care of their own? On the human level, the interference with this natural process has to do with the human creation of things like drug abuse, alchohol abuse, anger and child abuse. However, given these natural dangers in the human race, the majority of humans work well to protect, nurture and further the future of the human race. Yes, the human race is deviant compared to the rest of nature, but on the whole, we do a pretty good job, as well.

    Larc,

Yes true. Even the wicked in heart can love someone. Aint no big thang. It is trying to love one's neighbor and enemy.........where the problem is. We all are capable of loving those who love us.

    Larc,

I don't know if you recall, but you and I had a discussion about romantic love in the past. You said that it wasn't something to be analyzed (or something to that effect)...

Given here your simple yet beautiful explanation of nurturing love, do you think that romantic love is really out of the grasp of our intellects and imagination?

I think it is very similar to what you described, but with a slightly different motivation.

    Simple yet beautiful.

Or better yet, complex with simple rules.
