I went to the National 100 dirt track races in Alabama Sunday and what a blast! My older brother raced in the enduro class, but didn't make it past qualifying. Oh well, he'll have his sportsman (late model) running for next year. They also raced pony class, which is 4-cylinder cars mostly mustangs but there was a Volkswagon Rabbit that came in 5th in the qualifying race. Anyway in the pony class there was a 12-year-old kid out there racing. I was cheering for him but he didn't place high enough in the qualifying race. Bet he had a blast tho!

Oh and the main race was awesome. Super late models, 25 on the track, 100 laps. Forget NASCAR, dirt track racing is way more fun.

Linking a couple of pics of my bro in the race. He's driving the pink and purple #75 Camaro. His teammate driving the #76 is a woman!

Looks like alot of fun!!! I've always wanted to race, but alas a tad to expensive for me!!!! If your brother ever needs another woman driver for the team though - look me up!

Mike, your comments make me long for the early days of NASCAR, before it became big money. Even the Daytona 500, the most prestigous race of the year, was once ran half on the beach at Daytona. Kicked up a lot sand, LOL.

Most communities have small tracks for stock car racing, many still dirt. Too bad so many fail to see what great times can be had at the races. Any more, NASCAR is for money. I prefer the for fun races, myself.
