Can someone point me in the right direction for X-JW stats? Primarily, I need to find out: how many % people raised as Witnesses leave later; mental illness rates of current/X members; anything else available. I'm surmising that there hasn't been much research in this area to date. Thanking you in advance. -J

dont know how you would get that info. If the memorial is an indication, I would say half of the people were at some point associated. At least in the USA.

The best stats site I know is http://www.jwic.com/stat.htm but I'm not sure it has the information you are after.

G'day J,
You're right, there isn't much research available in the areas you mention. Can you imagine the Borg admitting such things, let alone tabulating them! So we're left with anecdotal evidence.
Good luck in your research.
Cheers, Ozzie

Maybe it's about time someone/s with the right resources actually did some research into these things...?

Go to google.com and search for Dr. Jerry Bergman (a psychologist and exJW who has written extensively about these things, including a book called, "Jehovahs Witnesses and the Problem of Mental Illness").
He would either have the stats you seek or might be your best lead in finding them.

Hey Simon - can't wait to see those '02' statistics, eh?

Awsome guys- looks like pretty slim pickings though. I'll dig around. Bergman has some good info, but I'd like some more recent empirical stuff. I'm guessing interest/resources are lacking because its a special interest thing. Research on current Witnesses would be a challenge, code of silence behind the 'wall' and all that sort of thing. Thanks for the pointers! -J
