100 Years Ago: WT calls Filipinos lazy, barbaric; asks President to sell Philippines to Japan

    http://ad1914.com/…/100-years-ago-july-1915-russell-claims…/

    Main Points:

    • Russell wrote the President of the United States through the Secretary of State, stating that he wanted to write him privately but thought it best to send the letter to also be published in newspapers.
    • Russell’s letter reveals a level of political involvement that went far beyond Zionism and direct political involvement in the affairs of government.
    • Russell’s stated opinions about the Philippines reveals personal prejudices which are pro-American, anti-Filipino and pro-Japanese. He shows himself to be a “White-Man’s-Burden” Eurocentric racist.
    • A history of Russell’s opinions related to the Philippines reveal inconsistency and contradictions, but also clarify the real meaning of the expression, “End of the Gentile Times.”

Add it to the list of ignorant, non-inspired, neo-zionist/communist statements from a Caucasian-American "religion."

Thnx Gilgamesh for illuminating this part of Charlie's lack of intellect. You commented: Russell’s stated opinions about the Philippines reveals personal prejudices which are pro-American, anti-Filipino and pro-Japanese.

Of course the 'white man's burden' thingie was still par for the course in both the anglosphere and the eurosphere at that time.

At the time that Mckinley authorised the invasion and the nasty, vicious war that ensued, there were many Americans who likely disagreed with the 'expansionist' party.

Here's a cartoon from the Detroit Journal in 1898:

The cartoonist was lampooning the concept that you had to conquer a country in order to "civilise" it. - Hence the schoolhouse on the hill, complete with American flag. The cartoonist apparently had no idea what a Filipino looked like, so drew a cartoonist's idea of a bewildered African native.

Support for the concept came from 'revered' English poet, Rudyard Kipling. He was supporting both the American slaughter of Filippinos, and advocating the idea of white supremacy in his famous poem, "The White Man's Burden."

    Here's an extract:

Take up the White Man's burden, Send forth the best ye breed
    Go bind your sons to exile, to serve your captives' need;
To wait in heavy harness, On fluttered folk and wild—
    Your new-caught, sullen peoples, Half-devil and half-child.

Quarterback: Well, Russel never took a Cruise vacation.

Yes he did. He took a cruise to Hawaii and falsely reported that he had given a sermon while there:

    http://www.stevedaily.com/Exposing_Jehovahs_Witnesses.html

on February 19th, 1912, the Brooklyn Daily
Eagle reported that Russell traveled extensively and sent back sermons that he supposedly
delivered back to the United States. The Eagle contended that Russell never delivered these
sermons in places like Hawaii to a "large audience." The Editor of the Hawaiian Star wrote
that Russell appeared for a few hours in Hawaii but didn't make his expected public address.
This was typical of many other documented accounts.
