Did anyone here see The Practice last night (Sunday November 10)? One of the story lines was about a man molested by a Catholic priest. Some of the dialogue was incredible and seemed to be right out of Silentlamb's mouth. It all related to Catholicism but you could have substituted JW's in there, and the effect would have been the same.

One of the lawyers is a Catholic (in the story) and his wife told him she didn't want their little boy raised Catholic because she didn't want him in any way to ever be with a priest who might molest him. She and another lawyer were angry with him because he wasn't angry at the church for the scandals. He kept defending it. Finally at the end, he goes to his parish priest and says he is leaving the church and won't be back until they expose every single pedophile priest, and get rid of all of them and stop protecting them.

Much more was said that was so good. Some great zingers to remember, if I could remember them. I wish I could get a copy of the script.

Yes, I watched it last night, that episode was excellent. After the program was over, I was flipping the channels and caught another " PRACTICE " at 12:30 am and that episode was about the JW blood issue. I wished I taped that one but it totally caught me off guard.

Mulan, I watched it too, and I noticed the same stuff. They really have tackled some sensitive issues with regard to religion, like Rebecca's transfusion issue last season (or was that the year before?, lol time flies!).

I thought they did a fine job with that show, and yes, there is not enough outrage in the Catholic Church, or in the ranks of Jehovah's Witnesses either. Of course, the big difference is that the Church does not boot you out and shun you if you show your displeasure.

Mulan--did you notice the phrase "crisis of conciece" was use more than once? I wonder if they have a writer on staff with JW knowlege.

Did anyone note how "Bobby's" preist dealt with his leaving the church? My elders never shed a tear over me... Oh well, it's TV

I was just going to mention that Hillbilly.......Bobby used it once and so did the Priest. I also found it interesting when the Priest told Bobby that when you leave the church you leave the faith. Very dub like thinking.

What I thought was interesting was the point that people NEED to be angry about the pedofile issue. Not to sugar coat it w/all the good that the church has done.

    I just love the Practice!

Made me think afterwards, though, if we will see lawsuits like that in our court system of elders who knew of pedofiles but did not say anything.....or individuals in the congregation that knew but didn't say anything.

I didn't see episode about the catholic, but I caught the end of the one about the JW's and blood issue. I guess that was a rerun at the 12:30 am slot. Very interesting.

That phrase "crisis of conscience" isn't unique to nor originated by Raymond Franz. When I went to the library this past week to look for the book, the catalog database came up with several other book titles containing that phrase. A lot of words or phrases come to have specific meaning to JW and ex-JW that in reality have a much broader definition. Like "going out in the field." Sometimes technicians or salespeople use that phrase. Of course, people have called JW's book salespeople.

Alas, I've been to the library twice and asked a librarian once and we weren't able to find Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz on the shelf, even though the database indicated it should be there. I'll probably just get it on half.com.

Maxwell-- Did you ever notice that when you buy a car it seems like all the sudden you start seeing ALL the other CARS just like it in traffic?

Was just taking note that the phrase hits a hot button on an aware ear. "True Peace and Security" has been said dozens fo times also. YOU are right -Witnesses do have a loaded language all their own.
