Ahh.........the stream of time

As I sat through opening prayer tonite at the book study, the brother used an old chestnut I have not heard in a while, thanking Jah for knowing where we are in the stream of time. I thought about the use/abuse of 607, the waffling about 1918, 1919, 1925, etc and I almost giggled out loud.

As we studied, and it was hot in there, it just struck me what a waste of time it was. It has always been my favorite meeting, but even that one is getting hard to sit through. What in the world is the point of that book anyway? Platitudes, references to 1918/1919, the newest favorite date from the WTS (it is harmless?) and always comments about the faithful slave. It is just the weakest book I have had to sit through in a while, and that is saying something.

One good thing: I am not feeling so empty and void as I was for a while. I am new to this free thinking thing, and was really a bit overwhelmed by it, missing the old cozy feeling of knowing it all about the bible, THE STREAM OF TIME and all. Now, as I get some perspective, it feels better and better.

Any comments on the lol stream of time?

It takes quite awhile for the brainwashing to thin out. I don't think you can be cured until you've been away for a few years though. It's an effective tool they use.

Pistoff, it used to be my least objectionable meeting. But the Daniel book and now the Isaiah books have ruined it. I went through and crossed out every reference to 1918/19 when I first got both Isaiah books.

Several prophecies depend on 1914 and 1918 together. According to the Watchtower, in the fall of 1914, Jesus was crowned as King. Three and a half years after that he cleansed Jehovah's spiritual temple. They also believe that a very short time after this temple cleansing, still in the year 1918, the heavenly resurrection of certain Christians occurred and these then began to live and reign with Christ in heaven.

Ever since Fred Franz, the publications are only the regurgitations of 200 men on the writing committee.

To me, all these dates and "speculations" are so meaningless. That one scripture negates all this crap. If no one will know when the end is coming, and people will be eating, drinking, etc, etc......then why try to KNOW???? What good does it do to fabricate all these "special" dates, study them over and over, to try to figure out when "the end" is coming? The Bible says NO ONE WILL KNOW!!!!!!!

All of this....."it's getting closer. You can tell. The signs are here. It can't be long now." I've heard this every year since I could understand English.

If you're living your life in a loving way, and you believe God will save you when (or if) "the end" does come, why should you worry about it? And if you don't believe it, then you shouldn't worry about it anyway.

What a total waste of time......

Well all of the truths have been revealed now and are petrified .There is no more to learn. The organization structure has been crystalized since the 70s. All the answers to all possible life problems carved onto stone tablets. All there is now is an occassional rub on the mirror to remove a speck here, a small streak there. They are just marking time (very slowly, as though wading thru molasses). The organization is in full doctrinal petrification. There is no more to know. God has revealed it all.

Blondie, you are so funny! You got so irritated with the 1918-19 dates that you crossed them out of your books. I put question marks on the dates. I agree that 1919 is the new harmless date. And the constant ramblings of how wonderful and faithful the slave is, makes me want to hurl.

Of course, if they don't mention dates and time of end prophecies frequently, pubs realize that life goes on and pretty much stays the same if you don't get it thrown in your face three times a week. And then you might realize that you should take the long term approach to all things, like college, building a business and a legacy for your community and your family.

We would NOT want that to happen in the "Christian" congregation now, would we?
