While the Jehovah's Witnesses avoid giving to charity - after all why bother?, they are going to die at armageddon soon anyway, the rest of the world do their best to help those in dire need.

Every year the BBC 'children in need' appeal raises millions to help disadvantaged children everywhere.

UK posters will know what I'm talkng about.

    Send some money to Pudsey!

Funny you posted this today. Just last night, on my way home, I was listening to the radio and a representative from the local Foster Family Network was asking for donations of toys for children. After hearing about the children and their needs, I was crying, called my friend and co-worker and we are now organizing ourselves here at work to donate stuff to them.

I came to work this morning, told the General Manager about our idea, turns out she heard the same piece on the radio and is eager for us to do it.

No matter what religion these children are, they have been abused and neglected. Money is scarce and they need to know that people care. And even if they don't really believe that people care then at least when they go to school or come home to play, they can go in a new pair of shoes or play with a new ball or Barbie.

I used to give to 5 different charities but stopped when I found out how much the people at the top were making. Good example is the president of the United Way. Make a million bucks a year. Sorry, but if I give, I want to make sure that what I give is going to the actual people in need.

If there's a way to ensure this, I'd be more than happy to give.

Children in Need night on the BBC is a telethon. And you all know what that means. It means that for hours on end we have to put up with Z-list celebrities doing inane things infront of a camera, y'know the score - people who usually do the weather forecast dressing up like they're in the Folie Bergere doing the can can, that kinda stuff!

I know Matty, if it happened a lot I'd be bored, but once a year is OK.

I'm watching it now and it's a hoot!

And over 6 million quid raised already tonight for children's charities.

    Now that's GOOD NEWS!

What we are doing here at work is donating new toys and new clothes for ages 0-18. No money is to be donated. Its for foster kids that have been placed with families and these children are unable to be reunited with their own families during the holidays either due to money or abuse issues.

That's also good news SimpleSally. Foster kids get a raw deal in life - they need to know that people still care (and they do).

I am often overwhelmed at the general goodness of people, from all walks of life, and their example is an indictment to the JWs who simply care for their own.

You guys really have it all wrong you know

No JW would ever give money to such a Satanistic, commercial TV station that dared to put out a slanted, biased, anti JW program such as Panorama.

Surely the 13m wwould be better in the hands of Mill Hill Bethel, think of all the WT's and property they could make and buy!! Its a disgrace that all this money goes to children of the world - better they have WT's and Awakes rather than money, food and enjoyment. Sprituality is far more important

And what about the dreadful, Satanistic performance of the "Sweet Transvestite" song - tut,tut

    Jim

PS Wasn't it great - but don't tell anyone!!
