Does the Society have any sort of explanation as to why they condone absolutely ever pagan symbol in relation to all the worldly holidays, but allow all Christians to wear a wedding ring, a totally pagan symbol that originated in Egypt?

Or are we showing a lack of faith by asking such a question..........

You are showing a lack of faith....now knock it off! Never question the "GREAT AND POWERFULL OZ"

No they do not give a LOGICALL explanation. If the pagan custom in question has a RELIGIOUS significance...they come down harder. Actually most customs DO have religious connections but the society does'nt usually acknowledge this.

Wind chimes were to scare away evil spirits....they are a conscience matter.

Saying "Good Luck" was recognition to a God of good fortune.....that's a no no....go figure!

They did have an article along the lines of "don't look for pagan origins in things" to excuse why they find certain things acceptable.

They still steadfastly refuse to allow small children share in the joys of Christmas or birthdays over some obscure interpretation of their mistranslated bible though ...

The JW's say anything that is a threat to their religion to be of pagan origin. Anything that detracts the brainwashed "Little Flock" away from studying their Watchtower magazines is considered to be of pagan origin. They even have something on the official Watchtower website about cross country skiing and its pagan origins. Go to: http://www.watchtower.org/library/g/2001/10/8/article_01.htm. If they were trully anti pagan the Watchtower would not acknowledge the months of the year and the days of the week as these calendar designations were named after Greek and Roman gods and goddesses. Go to http://www.geocities.com/Axiom43/months.html and http://www.geocities.com/Axiom43/weekdays.html. If you ask me if is the Watchtower is Pagan and nothing in this worldly "System of Things" has anything wrong with it. The JW's should move onto their own island as nothing in this world is good enough for them and shut their F***ing mouths once and for all. Thank you.

Can't have married JW's running around with no wedding ring now can we? Someone might tempt them and you know they can't handle temptation, that's why they avoid it at all costs. els

Russell's "Studies in the Scriptures" books were published with a golden Egyptian "Winged Sun Globe" symbol on the covers. So did "The Finished Mystery" book that was commissioned by Rutherford in 1918. This sun symbol represented an ancient Egyptian god, I believe either Ra or Horus, and this was well known in the late 19th century. The question is....Why did Russell feel that a pagan symbol representing an Egyptian god was appropriate to place on books explaining the Bible? --VM44
