I was readng the paper and I noticed they printed a story on the Two couples that were killed in Florida. They were from St Louis. They were also Jehovah's Witnesses. They were in a Cab and it collided with two tractor trailers .They were all burned!

They are having Memorial services Sunday here in St. Louis. The article said the remains were cremated!..They didn't have to add that!

The part that caught my eye was the bottom of the paragraph.

They were asking for donations to a trust fund for the minor surviving famly member. One couples children were 21 and 23. The other was 13.They were seeking donations for the 13 year old that is now staying with her aunt. I'm assuming she is also a JW..

I couldn't believe a JW would request "Donations" from the "worldy people".

Anyway..JW or not it was a very tragic accident!

That's the second time in the last few months a JW from here was in a bad accident in Florida.

When hubby was in the hospital..one of the laison committee was in a bad wreck with him and his wife in the car. They were banged up pretty bad. Some broken bones ..but OK.

    Snoozy....

I know sometimes people request donations to a certain charity in lieu of flowers at a funeral.

Maybe they thought that this was an alternative, and a way of helping the newly-orphaned girl. My heart goes out to her, what an awful thing to go through at the tender age of 13.

Well they had the funeral here by our house at the assembly hall. It was on the news. Over 2,000 people attended the memorial. They were lined up around the block and up the street.

Hubby just had to brag about how many showed up..He said they had a lot of "Friends". Funny...2000 people didn't show up at my JW Father in laws memorial?

I guess it's all who you know.My deceased JW Father in law's wife was a JW for almost 50 years. You would think they had a lot of "Friends"...But I don't think more than 50 people attended his funeral..What made the others so special?

"Do you think the Jw's would contribute to a "worldly" person dying?"

    Jim,

You know they would donate magazines as they say thier mags.
are more of a long time remedy.

Remember, they don't feel donating money to anything but the WTS is good thing to do.

I don't mean to make lite of this accident, I'm only posting what I as well as most other JWs felt and were basically taught by the WTS.

I'm sure others here will echo what I say about how JWs or should I say the WTS,feel about making any donations or giving of any time to anyone or anything that is not WTS related.

After all, They teach everyone and everything but JWs will be destroyed.

    Trajic accident indeed.

Do we know if the family that are responsible for the funeral arrangements are JWs? The deceased might not have had anything legal in place appointing a nonrelative JW in charge of the arrangements or a closer relative who is not a JW may have taken precedent over any JW relatives legally.

I was amazed at the first nonJW funeral of a close relative at how much money people gave to help out the family. (with sarcasm) and we know how unloving nonJWs are.
