I have been reading the board for some time. Finally had something that I thought was worth posting. I have a friend back east who is an elder. He informed me that there is a rumor that the city of New York has had communication with the society about purchasing many if not all of the facilities in Brooklyn if they are awarded the next Olympics. It is assumed New York will get the Olympics due to sympathy for 9-11. At any rate this meshed well with news that presses are moving to Patterson and the changes that are happening at the headquarters. My friend mentioned it was big money being discussed...he said a billion + dollars. Could be groundless but does make enough sense I thought I would post it. He is reliable and not prone to gossip. He wouldn't indicate who he had heard this from but said it was credible. He has a number of friends at the headquarters in high levels of responsibility.

Not to discredit your friends but I heard years ago from a very reliable source from Bethel that the New Scrolls of Life were on the presses. Wow rumors rumors rumors!!! Now they could be selling things off to pay for impending law suits. T he silent lambs who have been abused and are now sueing them. Those who could have had transplants. And what about those who could have had hemolinks. The Society should be bled dry. They are going to need mega bucks like the Catholic Church needed to pay the abuse victims. And that is only the beginning and these we know are no rumors. Start selling WBST they are coming to get you.

I can only add that when the olympics were held here in Atlanta, some old businesses that occupied what is now Olympic Park were purchased and razed. One of these was a printing firm and one was a warehouse that stored printed porno - unrelated to the printing firm. I don't know what was paid for the properties, but I assume it was a healthy amount. And this was in a run down section of Atlanta sort of cattywampus from CNN headquarters.

Orangefatcat...my first reaction was to question this as well. However, if you consider that Patterson certainly has the space to handle moving the headquarters there and the value of the Brooklyn properties. It is a smart move to relocate the headquarters. If the WTS is indeed facing financial difficulties what could be a better way to raise capital without affecting operations significantly? I was told that the city of NY approached WTS with initial "feelers" though not the other way around. Only time will tell but I thought it was worth posting. I believe the "source" was a mutual aquaintance who is in charge of purchasing at Bethel, however, it could have been someone else.

Isee Spanky that you are a newbie and I want to welcome you. I want you to know that in no way am I trying to make you feel that I am being nasty towards you. Because I am not. I am not that kind of person. It just that sometimes we have to evaluate were we get the information from. And maybe your friend from Bethel may be right. But from past experiences we have to be careful where we obtain information from. That is all I was saying. So once again welcome to the board and hope to hear from you often.
