    THIS SAYS IT ALL...........

woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face covered, I
believe this is even more appropriate. Read on, please! This is an editorial
written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper.

He did quite a job; didn't he?

individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we
have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans and
Canadians. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the
"politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our
patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold
a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America.
Our population is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our
country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of America and Canada being a multi- cultural national identity.
As Americans and Canadians, we have our own culture, our own society, our
own language and our community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and
our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of
struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have
    sought freedom.

other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn
    the language!

wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and
women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly
documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our
schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the
world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.

don't care how you did things where you came from. These are OUR COUNTRIES ,
our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the
right to express his or her opinion and we will allow you every opportunity
to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our
flags, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly
encourage you to take advantage of one other great American and Canadian
    freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

I think the person that wrote that is an asshole. Especially to lump Canadian culture with American culture together shows just how ignorant the individual is. There is no surge in Canadian patriotism after Sept. 11 but probably a surge in criticisms of America.

This person's thinking leads to intollerance and certainly does not encourage peaceful relations between persons of different races and cultures.

I don't believe any major Canadian paper would ever publish such an article. The backlash would be just too great.

The interesting thing about this article is how differently people will take it! Some will agree, some will not! There is a truthaticity and falseaticity to it, how you view it is your personal opinion and if you agree or disagree your not wrong!

quote: We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation and this is clearly documented throughout our history.

This is not true. Many of the founders of our country were Christian, but Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Paine were not. Abraham Lincoln, one of our most important presidents, was not a Christian.

As to our country being founded on Christian principles, I would appreciate it if you could tell me where in the New Testament there are any discussions of representative government, separation of powers, the principle of habeus corpus, the principle of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, a free press, the right of the people to peacably assemble, the right to bear arms, protection of private property, protection from unreasonable search and seizure, or trial by jury. Didn't find them? That's because they are not Christian principles. If they were, why would the United States have had to declare independence from a country with an established Christian church? If those are Christian principles, why were they not articulated during the 1400 years Europe was completely Christian?

This country was founded on principles of the Enlightenment. This was a political philosophy that was articulated during the 18th Century. If the author had paid attention in H.S history class he would know that.

quote: If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture and we are proud to have Him.

God doesn't offend me. People trying to push their personal views about God on me offend me.

God is part of our culture.

    Huh?

That's why we treated every other nationality/religious/ethic group the way we have, starting with the original inhabitants? That's why we interned Japanese-Americans on mere suspicion of disloyalty? That's why we had slavery? That's why the churches blessed boys going overseas to kill fellow (fill in your favorite religion here)?

I'm not saying America doesn't have virtues. But our robes aren't spotless. No nation's is.

God isn't a major part of our culture or we wouldn't worship the State more than Him.
