  Found this little snippet on a JW website:

  No.1 JW Question:

  Could you help me find information? I have been invited to a special occasion party.. Those invited are mostly baptized witnesses. My concern is some planning the party and attending are baptized witnesses that left the truth but were never disfellowshipped. I have knowledge that they are not leading Christian lives. My understanding is that they have not been disfellowshipped because they disassociated themselves. I do not understand the distinction between disfellowshipped and disassociated. ShouldI treat these ones as if they are disfellowshipped? I am uncomforatable with attending this special occasion family party. I am thinking of the recent KM recommendations about association with disfellowshipped ones. No.2 JW Answer: It is amazing how our bible trained conscience works for us. treated as a disfellowshipped individual. Why would a person disassociate themselves from Jehovah's loving organization?? Usually it is because they no longer choose to live by bible standards and as we learned today in the Watchtower study, paragraph 12, one of Satan's tricks is to "embolden dedicated Christians, both young and old to live double lives". Just because they have not been disfellowshipped is no reason for us continue to associate with them. Did they write a letter informing the congregation elders that they no longer want to attend the meetings? Or did they just stop attending the meetings? Are they inactive? When is the last time they shared in field ministry? These are questions to consider Snowflake, because you want to stand firm regarding situations like these. The watchtower today was so encouraging because this situation shows that this could be one of satan's tricks or snare's. Remeber he is very subtle and before we know it we could become involved in something that destroys our conscience. You sound so concerned and you should be especially when you have to question whether you should be in attendance at this party. I know you will make the right Christian decision.

  I have to say with shame...in the begining I was like that... But then as time went by and I saw UNRIGHTIOUS disfellowshipments.....those who were in REAL need and were not rebelious when dissed...I couldn't behave so UN-Christ like.

  I also saw some treated very badly and just unable to step foot in th KH without worrying about more mistreatment....they would fade away...and I would be so very sad. I'd wonder don't the elders see him/her fading.

  I started reaching out to every dissed person I knew and those fading. I would tell them they could sit by me and my kids...that this was JEHOVAH'S Kingdom Hall...NOT mans. Most would turn me down. I used to wonder why. I thought to have at least one friend would make its easier to serve Jah.

  I think it was just too sad for them to attend...even with one friend.

  There was one dissed sis though who was always semi-homeless(she always had a place to sleep just not her own) I would have her sit by me or infrount of me and we'd share bibles or study books.she was always loosing them since she didn't have a reagular home. Sometimes I'd hold her hand...(we never verbally spoke during this time...)after I was dissed while I was still atending there I'd put my arm around her. She is a wonderful woman. She just has some problems due to abuse growing up and then spousal abuse while married.

  Before I was dissed if someone had asked me about a gathering that included ones who faded away....I would have said ,"Go and see why they have left...maybe you can help."

  That was my way as a JW for the last 7 years of my activity.

  whoever wrote that reply to the original question. Well, I would feel "uncomfortable" pouring water on him if he was burning in the gutter.

  You HAVE to live a "double life" to a degree, or you would cease to be human.No real humanity can survive in there!
