I am freaked out now??

  My friend for thirty years in Jacksonville died this weekend on a trip to upper New York state? He was a really nice guy, not in the main stream of DUBS, if you know what I mean? He went very quick.....heart attack....!!! We tallked about death some and both wanted to go quickly?

  He was a fireman and para-medic for thirty five years, and saved many lives while just doing his duty? He and his crew went to New York during 911 to help for several weeks!

  I feel I have to go to his funeral. I am not good at funerals, at all? I am real pain over his death, he is the closest person to me to ever die while I have been an adult.

  If you remember I posted "Are you ready to die?", recently.

  Gonna miss you George.....BYE!!!

  I am so sorry to hear about you losing your friend and one of "our " heroes as well. I will never forget the firefighters from 9/11, I watch a documentary of them , the one with the two brothers, and cried my heart out. Those firefighters were special people and the bravest I have seen, next to soliders who go to war I guess. It must have took alot of heart for your friend and his crew, to go out and look for people after that tragedy.

  Breeze, it might be a good idea for you to go to the funeral, I think in some cases it may help you to grieve and that is important, important to say goodbye. I didnt go to close friends funeral , it was said to be a suicide, and my mom had just done the same thing, so I knew I couldnt bare it. But looking back now, I wish I could have told Misty goodbye. Even if I couldnt have stayed for the whole thing, if I could have had just a few minutes with her to say goodbye , I would feel so much better now. But that was just for her. There have been many other funerals that I have passed on , because the pain would be too much.

  Just go with your heart Breeze, you will know the right thing to do for yourself, and if there is a heaven, I really hope there is....... your friend already knows how you feel.

  I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Death is an enemy, but especially so, when it strikes someone we love.

  Unfortunately that happens more and more as we get older.

  Hello Breeze, May I add my condolances for the loss of a very special friend. I have not got such a close friend , and your post makes me wish that I had.

  You do not say whether it will be a witness funeral , but when you go it will be personal for you . Our thoughts and care go with you.

  I went to the funeral....

  The Dubs did the main part but the fire department finished it with a big bang? There were several hundred firmen and many of their trucks etc.....

  The picture posted here is the pall bearers walking alongside the emergency vehicle.
