A friend and I were discussing Bible theology the other day and when we were discussing God's name he said something along the lines of God's name being 72 letters long and that the Hebrew tetragrammaton was a shortened form of God's name when they were writing the Bible. I looked on the internet and there were some sites referring to this, but strictly from a Jewish cabalistic perspective. What I'd like to know if there is a Biblical theological perspective on this issue....Thanks for any input!
