Consider my 'heart condition'? Is kidding who?

Another post I just made got me thinking on this....

How many knew JWs who 'went through the motions', as it were. They might think the elders and the org itself was wrong in many areas, but still kept going to meetings, out in service, etc.

The thinking, of course, is that, when 'the big A' comes, god will look at their 'heart condition' and allow them to pass.

    My thought on this is....

But why is that a GOOD thing? Their heart condition is WICKED if they have doubts, right? (Well, according to the WTBTS, whose teachings they believe, anyway)

Wouldn't they prefer, at the 'big A', that god look at SOME of their actions (not even all of them), and CERTAINLY not look at their actual heart conditions?

    Are they deluding themselves?

I've entertained that same thought, Xander. They seem to think they're "puttin' one ovah on Jehovah" as if the omniscient One can't figure out what they're doing.

A lot of people just dont THINK. They dont examine things. They dont think things thru. They dont think their own wants and opinions thru. They dont analyze themselves.

This is why they got involved in the dubs in the first place - Cheap Salvation. And they keep going thru the motions because they are too lazy to analyze what they really feel. They have reached a Status Quo and are content to sink into it.

    Hows that?

Looking at it from another angle.

I know of (Im hearing all this second hand) a 70 ish aged dub woman who, sometimes, when it comes to the showdown in disagreements with her daughter, falls back on the "weak heart" line. Clutching her chest. Gasping for breathe.

The daughter is about...oh, 37 now, a spinster, and...well times running out for her isnt it? Biological clock is going tick tick tick. The arguements have been fairly frequent over recent years with the daughter mouse desperately trying to rear onto her hind legs and stop herself being devoured. I dont think the daughter will make it out from under mummys iron rule.

Imagine. 37 years old and she hasnt learnt. All she has to do is say NO

Sounds like The Glass Menagerie, dubstyle.

Yeah. Meanwhile at my place it was "Cat on a hot tin roof" (Without the Elizabeth Taylor character)

    'Cheap salvation' - I think that's it.

They were told salvation cost $1.25, and that, to the penny, is all they are willing to spend.

I guess that's what they must mean by 'heart condition' - that, at the big A, there is a cutting off line of some kind, and god's only looking to see if you just barely made it, or least least MEANT to just barely make it (IE. 'my heart condition was to do everything I could to scrape together that $1.25, but not a penny more')

I guess saying they haven't really thought it through themselves is exactly correct.

    It's still depressing, though...
