Thankfulness

I try to start each day now with a few minutes of meditation on what I am thankful for. I try to pick out just one thing each day and be thankful for that.

Thinking about things I am thankful for rather than things that I cannot have is very peaceful.

    Love to all

    Joel,

I think this is a great practice to have in your daily routine! I know that it's much more fun for me to be around people that have a grateful spirit. So I try to be a grateful person myself - it makes me feel better and it makes it more enjoyable for others to be around me.

I think as JWs we were taught to focus on the negative in the world. They were just signs of a more positive thing (The New System) coming right around the corner right? Well, with years of practice at looking at the negative, it took a long time for me to turn my thinking around. After 12 years, it still only happens if I practice it regularly. Thankfulness is a muscle. If you don't practice it every day it goes away.

I'm glad you're doing so well lately. Keep at it - fake it till you make it if you have to, but just keep at it. You're so much more in tune with yourself than you were a year and a half ago. Nobody's asking for perfection...just progess. You're doing great!

    Little bear hugs,

    Andi

Thanks for reminding us how valuable a few minutes of meditation can be. Incorporating good breathing into the session will also add a bonus of well being. Most of us don't realize that we "breathe" incorrectly, and this can lead to all sorts of troubles in the balance of our bodies. We need to keep that oxygen flowing steadily to reap the benefits to our system.
