  While the Australian Royal Commission may be the focus of our attention at the moment, we should not forget that this is a much wider problem. Previous official investigations in Australia (inquiring into church run homes for kids)have revealed horrible examples of abuse, as have similar investigations in Canada and Ireland.

  And international news today reports on this mass incident in Pakistan. And if some may want to see this as a Muslim problem, then please do a search and find that similar things happen in India.

  Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Sunday ordered a judicial inquiry into Pakistan’s biggest child pornography scandal in Kasur, Express Tribune reports.
  Shahbaz directed the Punjab home department to forward a request to the chief justice of the Lahore High Court for the constitution of a judicial commission to probe into the alleged child abuse.
  The order comes a day after reports of the scandal went viral on social media.
  The chief minister said the perpetrators of the incident will not be able to evade law and he assured that the government will provide justice to the victims at all costs.
  Earlier on Sunday, the chief minister had summoned an emergency meeting to discuss the child abuse case. The investigation officer concerned briefed him about the incident.

  A good example is one of my best friends who was abused all through childhood until they were able to leave home at 17 despite reporting it to (and begging help from) aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, coaches, school counsellors, a psychiatrist, two medical nurses, and three police officers during those years.

  Among these were Christians, agnostics, atheists, and a Buddhist or someone practicing a nature-based form of religion. Schools, teachers, police and medical professionals all failed this person, as did the institutions and organizations they belonged to.

  The stories can leave you weary with human evil.

  I just found a document in my files for an academic at my university, and I'll post it here in a separate thread. It details some research by an Oxford uni academic that plainly implicates Queen Elizabeth I in the kidnapping of boys for use in the theatre and prostitution.

  Wow fulltimestudent. That would be something to read. And yes, there is this global problem of abuse of many kinds toward children.

  I have always known this. The RC in this instance is useful to many who truly believed in the doctrines they were taught and the wonderful spin of the WTBTS.

  In this specific RC it was to have a damned good look at a religion that claims charity status. I found a letter sent to WT Australian on the RC site, and it clearly states how to turn certain funds into............only a donation. This was in order to get around some potential problems facing WT over here. Went a bit off track there. The main thing is that we all know of this problem, it's just a bit hard to take from any religion claiming to have the knowledge and means to assist others to spiritual wellness, or everlasting life.

  I think this may be why the media is actually covering the RC...

  ...not because they give a shit about JWs or the WTS, but because the institutionalized sexual victimization of young people is - correctly - perceived as a problem that affects everyone.
