A Sad Experience Today

I had just decorated the first Christmas tree that I had ever done by myself, my wife had to run over to her son for an errand. She came in with our grandson and a friend who she had invited over for a bowl of soup. While they were sitting there I remembered my son and this boys father sitting there over 20 years ago. They were good friends also. I used to take them with me when I went to R/C model airplane contest. I felt so sad for this little 12 year old. A couple of years ago, two black men came into a convenience store where his dad was working and killed him. His mother abanded him before this and he is living with his grandmother, who is in the hospital about to die. I could see my son and his dad sitting there in my mind so vividly. I felt so sad for this little boy.

The judicial system is so screwed up, they only gave the guy who robbed and killed his dad 18 months in prison. Don't know why, I didn't attend court. Some kids have to go through hell on their road to adulthood. So sad.

Ken, what can I add but to say that is indeed a very sad story. Sometimes, our Judicial system is so screwed up. The boy lives the rest of his life without a Dad while the killers serve minimal time and are free to do it again, having learned they can literally get away with murder.

I'm glad you had them over to share in your day, it will mean a lot to him later on.

Ken that is truely heart breaking. One can only hope that this young lad has plenty of people like you in his life. I hope things go well for the young man he certainly deserves better than he's gotten so far.

    Regards,

You forgot to say what colour the victim's skin was.

That's not what I was saying. But Ken gave no physical descriptions of anyone involved except to say that the killers were black. As it didn't seem to be a relevant part of the a story (e.g. if the child had grown to hate black people as a result), I was wondering why it was mentioned.

I guess I said two black men because that is usually the description of the robbers who do that sort of thing around here. I also feel a little prejudiced toward the young black culture, the rappers and those men who refuse to take responsibility for their children. It's not a race thing, just the culture and values that I see demonstrated in my area.
