I have finally started reading the vampire chronicles. I just finished The Vampire, Lestat by Anne Rice. Before that I read The Tale of the Body Thief. I realize that I am reading them out of order but am enjoying them anyway. Is there anybody else around here that enjoys Anne Rice? Which is your favorite story? Why?

I like them, but I would recommend you read them in order. Tale of the Body Thief was sub-par IMO, and difficult to follow w/o having read Queen of the Damned. Actually, I would probably just read Interview and Vampire Lestat, I think she started running out of ideas after Vampire Lestat and the series started to get silly(er).

    Hi Robyn,

I got into the Vampire Chronicles a while back but only read a few of the books ( 3 in total I think.) I will read them all one day but only after I complete the current series that I'm reading, which is The Wheel of Time.

    Cheers, DK.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the books in The Vampire Chronicles.

The Vampire Lestat is an excellent novel.

I highly recommend you read them in order, but you will enjoy Rice's most recent novel entitled Blood and Gold, detailing the memoirs of the vampire Marius, an extremely old and powerful vampire who was entrusted to be the keeper of the Mother and Father of all vampires, and lived as undead eternal throughout world events such as the Egyptian empire, the rise and fall of the Romans, the birth of Christ, and the Renaissance amidst other things on into the present day.

You would also enjoy Queen of the Damned (infinitely better than the movie)

Or, if you want more work from Rice, perhaps you would enjoy Ramses the Damned (chronicling the story of the Mummy)

Hope you enjoy Robyn. I liked them all.

    Reborn,

I,m currently reading Blood and Gold and am enjoying it so far. I've also read Interview and Queen of the Damned and truly enjoy Rices writing style. I seldom read fiction but made an exception based upon a recomendation with these and am happy that I did!

mac, of the little nip on the neck never hurt anyone class

P.S. I rarely do anything in order!

I like cry to heaven, in spite of all the homo erotic stuff( I don't have a prob w/ it, it just does'nt float my boat). Irongland I agree w/ you, tlae of the body thief downright sucked. Anne Rice is f***ing fantasic when she is "on". But she can be pretty bad, as well.

Incidentally, I would have cast peter steele from type-o-negative as lestat in the new movie if I knew he could act. He looks & sounds like vampire

    Irongland and Reborn,

Thanks for your suggestion, I will read them in order.

    DK,

I am unfamiliar with The Wheel of Time. Who is it by?

    Mac,

    I'm not surprised. LOL

    Avishai,

Anne Rice is fantastic. I was a bit of a classics snob and wouldn't read her. I thought there was no way that she could top Bram Stoker. I was wrong. She rawks!
