... I find the Zionist support from Christian fundamentalists to be nothing short of bizzare. Besides the theological assumption that "nations that bless Israel will in trun be blessed" can't the reason why they support Israel be viewed as nothing short of anti-semetic? To be fair, Christian fundamentalists are one of the largest contributors and supporters of Israel in the world today. Their monies have supported Istraeli families, student scholarships, and groups that have strengthened our alliance with the state. Still, don't they have an alterior motive. Fundies believe that on "the last day" Jesus will Judge Israel at gunpoint: in other words, they will either accept Jesus and live forever with God in heaven, or be condemned to hell for all of an eternity. The majority of my Jewish friends don't take the fundies seriously, as far as their concerned any support is good support. I agree with this to a degree. We should support Istrael, but from a person with a Jewish background, I condemn this Christian-Zionist approach. Still, as long as Jesus doesn't come, what do we have to complain about? I just can't separate the notion of one religion believing in the destruction of all other religions, no matter how much money they throw at a perceived problem. The fundies may think they're doing the reight thing, but in the end, they're going to walk away as the big losers ...
So what do you think, is the Christian-zionist approach tinged with anti-semitism or just the opposite since their support has done much good for Israel on a material level? Discuss...
